CONTEMPORARY DEBATE EXERCISE

Asked the students to form teams and speak about either the positive or negative effects of :

1. TV serials
2. Social Media
3. New Movies
4. Fast Food culture
5. Superstar culture in movies
6. Love marriages 
7. Mobile phones
8. Grand family functions
9. Hartals
10. Demonetisation 

II. INTERACTION ROUND

After the speech given by a team on one of the topics, the audience will ask questions to test their logical reasoning and verbal reasoning skills.

III. INDIVIDUAL SPEECHES
After both the above rounds, all the participants would give a one minute speech on any one of the 10 topics which were debated in this exercise.

SWOT-BASED ROLE PLAY


Image result for strengths and weaknesses in moviesAsked the students to form teams and then present role plays before the audience showing Strengths/Weaknesses of a character while they face an imaginary situation. The situation becomes an opportunity if the character uses it to test his/her strength and a threat if it reveals a weakness of the character.

KEYWORD CONVERSATIONS

Image result for conversationsAsked the students to write a list of keywords (around ten each) related to their Personal/Family/Education/Career aspects in an A4 sheet paper using tables and then give it to their partner who has to go through it, study it and then strike a conversation touching all the given keywords. Both the persons having the conversation will cover all the keywords and get an experience of the power of an in depth heart to heart conversation.

"IMAGINE-ACTIONS OF A PROFESSIONAL" EXERCISE

Image result for CABIN CREW - WHAT WE REALLY DO - YouTube (360p)In this exercise the students are asked to imagine that are playing the role of a professional say an air hostess/cabin crew/journalist/nurse/IPS Officer etc. and they have to utter a sentence that reveals a specific action of that particular profession and also that sentence should be one of the ten types of action sentences. The teacher can prepare slips writing the names of different professions and also the type of action sentence that needs to be formed and spoken. The teacher can also show videos showing the daily lives of various professionals to improve the students' knowledge about occupations in real life.

In this exercise the teams come and present before the audience a small skit/drama using a common object like a newspaper, a watch, a mobile etc. In the skit the chosen object will have an important role to play.
