ONE SENTENCE REVIEWS
Can we write movie reviews in a single sentence.....
1. STORY OF AN UNDERDOG
At a time when movies talk mostly about non-issues or silly issues comes a movie that talks about a common man on the street, who lives hand to mouth, has nothing to lose and becomes the voice of those silenced by the powers that RULE them, unleashing his fury against the apathetic attitude of the ruling class towards the ground(road!) realities of life and ends up in standing up for the masses quite unintentionally....becoming a true hero in the process.

Participatory Story Writing Exercise
The students are asked to write a story that they have read or heard or actually been through ie., from their own experience. But they shouldn't complete it. The final part should be left to the reader. The reader has to suggest an ending and then discuss it with the writer. The writer then completes the story by also appreciating the reader's version.

WRITING SPEECHES
A Speech on "TV programmes and their influence on our lives"
Dear friends...
Could you please lend me your ears?
Today I am going to speak on "TV programmes and their influence on our lives". Are you all ears? Can I begin?
Television, as you all know, has become a part and parcel of our family nowadays. There are umpteen numbers of channels dishing out a plethora of programs based on NEWS, Sports, Music, Travel, Fashion, Movies, Education, Cookery etc. However, in the evenings people usually prefer to watch their favourite soap operas. I am afraid this is now becoming a kind of addiction. We find it very difficult to miss or skip an episode. Why is it so?
This is because we empathize with the characters in these serials.
And most of the serials are just playing with our feelings and emotions. They tempt us by arousing emotions of sympathy, sadness, anger, pity etc. to engage their audience. In short, the serials have become a kind of opium for the masses. The MNC's sponsoring these emotional melodramas keep showing their product advertisements whenever and wherever they can, laughing all the way to the bank.
The winning formula of a successful potboiler is to show a protagonist who is always innocent looking, unfortunate and miserable and suffering endlessly for no fault of hers. But at the same time, there are many other serials that make the audience laugh, think and help them have a good time.
But these are often few and far between.
Talking about me, personally, I care two hoots for these silly tearjerkers that can only enthuse the namby pamby ones. Youngsters like me watch TV for movies, musical programs, reality shows and stage shows that gets us glued to the screen. They are magnificent with spectacular visuals, stunning sound effects and scintillating choreography. The stellar multimedia effects in these programmes make them an enchanting watch.
I conclude my speech by saying that TV programmes are addictive in nature and can make us couch potatoes. The solution is to make our leisure time an opportunity to develop various aspects of our personality that remain passive during the day's work ie., to give an outlet to our creative interests.
Thank you all.

ESSAY FOR STUDENTS
Effect of Social media
Today we can't imagine a world without social media. Life looks impossible without its daily use. Now the question is how it influences our youth. The youngsters use social media mostly for giving them entertainment and information in the form of text messages, pictures and videos that they enjoy. Social media keeps them updated about what is happening in their world of friends, family members and acquaintances.
The biggest problem with youth using Social
media is that they unconsciously become addicted to this medium and then they
fall into a trap of unhealthy habits like sleeping late, eating while watching Social
media related data, getting withdrawn into their own world and often neglecting
their duties and responsibilities as a student and a family member. Staring too
much at the digital images, data and video on the screens of their gadgets can
have a harmful effect on their eyes and also on their bodies. They don't get
proper physical and mental exercise that can weaken their cognitive, metabolic
and muscular faculties.
At the same time a disciplined and
prudent use of social media can help the youth in getting the much needed break
from the busy academic or work schedule and provide them a whiff of fresh air
and also act as a support system. The society should guide the youth in using
Social media for their holistic growth and development thus making it a game changer in creating a bright future and a better world for our future
generations.
